April 14, 2012: Dismal Swamp Stomp Half Marathon and Children's Half-Mile Cub Run

Alongside and parallel to the trail is the historic Dismal Swamp Canal, part of the famed Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, which offers runners forested wetlands and a peaceful paved pathway through the wilderness. May 5, 2012: Paddle for the Border 
Calling all Paddlers!! Join the fun and come to Chesapeake to participate in the ninth annual Paddle for the Border, located along the Dismal Swamp Canal. The beautiful 7.5 mile trip is enjoyable for canoers and kayakers of all ages and skill levels. Landlubbers needn't fear; the canal trail features areas for, picnicking, and bird watching. The 2012 Chesapeake Jubilee kicks off Thursday, May 17th. This year's event is sure to be nothing short of spectacular. The Jubilee will again host the Annual Chesapeake Kiwanis Shrimp Feast and the Annual BBQ Cook-off Competition, sanctioned by the world famous Kansas City Barbeque Society.
